If you are an older person, as I am, that is used to the superior soft feel and comport of the legendary Hush Puppy brand, you may be disappointed in these. Description says "leather". Now I spent about 15 years of my young life managing shoe stores, and leather has a distinctive smell, especially when you first open the box. The shoe is unmarked. Normally shoe will be stamped on the inside of the side or tougue relating the materials used in construction, IE "shoe of man-made materials" or "leather upper, balance of man made materials" etc. These are size marked only, and MADE IN CHINA, to boot! I see NO LEATHER in the shoes I received. Exposed edges of upper material is skillfully rolled so not raw edges to check , but smells and feels like man made materials. Nylon over foam sock liner. Sole is molded on plastic. Fit is good so far. I'm very disappointed in product, but will keep it and wear it. In my opinion, seriously overpriced for quality if man made shoe. ADDENDUM: I've worn these for several days now, and many hours. They ARE NOT A LEATHER SHOE, AND THERE IS NO BREAK IN, SO DON'T EXPECT THEM TO "STRETCH" ANY. I COULD HAVE DONE AS WELL AT WALMART.VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS PRODUCT! PLASTIC JUNK SHOES! NO, would not buy AGAIN!

I ordered these for my independent-minded dad, who is 94. He was still wearing dress shoes with laces every day. After a fall a few months ago, it became more of a chore for him to tie his shoes. He resisted any thought of an easy-on shoe. One day he asked me for help tie the old shoes, and I made up my mind to get something with Velcro. I ordered these and waited to tell him. When they came, I showed him the Hush Puppies. He tried them on but wouldn't stand in them. He liked the fact that they were light. He put them aside and said he would see. I had to go out of town for two days and when I got home, he was wearing the shoes! They are dressy enough to wear to church, (the Velcro isn't noticeable under the drape of his pants). He has worn the Hush Puppies exclusively since he got them. As far as size, he normally wears a 10.5EEE, but I purchased the 11EEE because he has had some issues with swelling in his feet. He says the 11 is the right size. Hush Puppies has the reputation of making a comfortable shoe, and these were certainly what my dad needed. I am pleased with the look, feel, and price of this shoe.

Have had at least one pair of these since they came on the market. They have been my everyday, comfort shoe for many years. Fasten the Velcro flap a little loose, and you have a slip-on for around the house that will become your favorite house-shoe: Cinch it a bit tighter if you want outside activity. Either way, it will nestle your feet in comfort for many years. Do not consider replacement until the tread is completely gone, and then conduct a ceremony for retirement.. LOLCurrently, Hush Puppy products comprise my complete shoe inventory... 77 years has taught me something: Comfort should always trump trend and style... Who's your best friend?? Someone you can impress with your tight, stinky, Italian shoes, or the feet who will take you home, and you gonna have to live with the rest of your life? Treat your feet good, and they'll carry you far: But, abuse them and they will get even... "Nuff sed. -pp

I ordered these shoes for my father who has dementia. My dad wears thick socks so I thought he would need the wide width. But after seeing how they fit I realized the medium width would have been fine. I didn't feel like returning them and ordering a smaller size so I just bought some shoe inserts from the dollar store. These shoes are very attractive and the velcro straps make them easy to get on and off. For a person with dementia, easy is a high priority and my father likes them. I'm only giving 4 stars because the price is kind of steep. After I ordered these I found some similar men's velcro shoes at Walmart for $29.99 but they only came in a weird bone color. These Hush Puppies are better made than the Walmart shoes and much better looking. They look like they will last for several years.

For a long time I have been wearing New Balance Men's Leather Walking Shoes for the large amount of walking I do (5 miles daily). Somehow I discovered Hush Puppies Men's Gil Slip-On for a few more dollars. They are worth every penny. They look much better and can be worn as a dress shoe. They fit exactly as expected. They are exceedingly comfortable when worn for prolonged periods. This shoe, which comes in numerous colors, is my new walking shoe.

These are some of the most comfortable walking shoes I've bought in some time! The quality of the materials and workmanship are both excellent. I am recovering from total knee replacement surgery and these are VERY easy for me to put on and take off, yet they offer great support to my feet. I often have a hard time finding comfortable shoes, but these fit the bill perfectly and I would definitely buy them again! Good job, Hush Puppies!

I bought this shoe a couple of years ago because I needed a lot of room in the shoe to insert “Super Feet” insoles for my plantar fasciitis, my inward pronation and because my feet are extra wide in size. The shoe is very light and very comfortable; and I love the fact that I don't have to bother with lacing it up. I like the styling of the shoe, which looks good enough to be worn at my workplace, where the dress code is business casual. To increase the service life of the shoes, I had my shoe repair shoppe add a leather lining to the inside heel sections, because the fabric lining on my shoes always tends to blow out about there because of the rubbing of the inward side of my heels. I also had them reinforce the sole because the inward pronation of my feet tends to shorten the life of my shoes to only a year or two. I've had the shoes since 2015, and they still provide great support.
