Excellent
Good product, arrived quickly. I dive a rebreather so it may be important someday to let people know I want to be picked up on the big blue sea!

Broke already
I bought this for a remote live-aboard. The on/off switch stopped working and now it only stays on and drains the batteries. I’m now outside the return window and will have to struggle to get a replacement. I’ve heard from many people these aren’t reliable but I was hopeful the new model would work better. Doesn’t seem so.

Poor antenna design
I haven't used the item yet. I'm still trying to get an MMSI issue straightened out.My biggest complaint is the design of the antenna. The older units had a shorter flexible water tight antenna that you would just bend over and trap under the cover. The new unit is much different. Neither the antenna cover nor winder are attached to the unit. The cover will almost definitely get lost when you use the unit in the water. Also the procedure for furling the antenna is very clumsy as it requires use of the unattached winder (also easily lost). With the antenna unfurled you can't close the cap. They should have gone with a straight antenna that could be extended and retracted. It could still be made waterproof and be much easier to use.

Worth buying but poorly designed
Product arrived in a timely manner and the electronics appear to function properly. I gave it 3 stars because it has several very poor design features related to deployment of the antenna. In order operate the device you unsecure the latch and open the clear cover. No problem. Next you encounter a cap that needs to be removed in order to deploy the antennae. Here is where things go wrong. The antennae is basically a spring that is held in place by the cap. Where are you supposed to put this cap after you remove it? The chance of losing the cap seem very high, however that is not my largest complaint. My biggest complaint is that In order to rewind the spring you need to use a little orange proprietary plastic tool that is supplied with the unit. Unfortunately they made no way of attaching it to the device. WHERE is this going to be when you need it!? They could have easily made a little cubby in the device or at least put a hole in it so you could attached via a string or key-chain (or better yet scrap the whole idea and use a decent antennae). This tool should also have incorporated a small screw driver that is needed to change the batteries. It seems like "cheap as humanly possible" was the over-riding design principal. I'm not an engineer, but I could have done a better job. No common sense.
